Labor Day

The library will be closed this Monday, September 3 in observance of Labor Day.  We hope you enjoy the last weekend before school starts and apologize for any incovenience our closing creates.  The library will reopen at 10 am on Tuesday, September 4.

End of Summer Party This Friday

Our summer reading program is coming to a close and will officially end on Friday, August 24.  So, it is time to celebrate another great summer!  This Friday, August 17 from 3-5pm we will be having a party.  Come make some homemade ice cream in a bag and enjoy some snacks.  Everyone is welcome to participate, no registration required.

Glow in the Dark T-Shirts

This Monday, August 6, bring a shirt to the library and use some glow in the dark paint to decorate it.  The fun starts at 3:30pm.  T-shirts will not be provided, so you need to bring one to participate.  Hope to see you there!

Dream Catcher

Join us tomorrow, July 19 at 4:00pm to make your own dream catcher out of cardboard, yarn, beads and feathers.  Then hang it above your bed for fewer bad dreams.  All ages welcome, but younger children may need assistance.

Magic

We’re kicking of the summer reading program with a great magic show.  Join us on Monday, July 9 at 3:30 and be awed by the magic of Ted Burzynski.  Please register if you are planning to attend so we can get an idea of how many people will be there.

Summer Reading

Summer is here!  It’s time for warm weather, outdoor fun, and the summer reading program at the library.

At the Highland Branch Library we have a reading program for every age.

Kids (Ages 3-11) can earn weekly prizes for reading for three hours.  They can read alone, be read to, or listen to an audiobook.

Teens (Ages 12-18) can earn weekly prizes and be entered in a monthly raffle for their reading time.

Adults can read and write short reviews for a chance to win a Barnes & Noble gift card.  There will be smaller prizes for runners up.

The programs begin Thursday, July 5 and end Friday, August 24.   Come in to the library to pick up reading logs or forms and get reading.

Summer: Sum of Dis, Sum of Dat

What does summer mean to you?  Trips to the beach or pool?  Free time with friends?  Express your ideas creatively at the library and help us make a summery display.  Wednesday, June 6 at 1:30.
